Marvelous Mushrooms The Focus at Annual Wellness Dinner

annual wellness dinner, Haw River Gourmet Mushrooms, 2 baby goats

Our Third Annual Wellness Dinner, Sunday January 20 (from 1:30 pm to 5 pm) focuses on the health benefit of mushrooms with our Special Guests, Ches & Laura Stewart from Haw River Mushrooms, LLC. They may even bring their adorable toddler twins!

The Stewarts grow edible and medicinal mushrooms at their small farm in Saxapahaw, North Carolina. They grow mushrooms both indoors (oyster mushrooms, lions mane, shiitake, cinnamon cap, reishi, king trumpet, etc.) and outdoors (King Stropharia, blewits, log grown lions mane, blue oyster, and shiitake). Laura holds a Wild Mushroom Food Safety Certification which allows her to sell nineteen varieties of seasonal mushrooms.

Their passion for mushrooms increased as they learned more about the culinary diversity of mushrooms (with some tasting like chicken, crab, lobster, and more) as well as the amazing health benefits of mushrooms (including supporting the immune system, boosting mental clarity, and being a healthy source of vitamins and nutritional protein). They will be giving an informative talk about mushrooms and our menu features their mushrooms!
