This Is Kidding Season When Baby Goats Are Born

Celebrity Dairy sign and baby goats

This is kidding season, the special time of year when our baby goats are born. We offer Open Barns several times a year so you can meet our Celebrity Goats. Join us for lots of baby goat cuddling (and their adorable antics) as well as baby goat yoga and a chance to see a goat dairy in action. We might even see some new babies born during the Open Barn!

You’re invited to join us for a homemade lunch of soup and sandwiches here at the Inn, including many vegetarian and gluten-free options. To finish off your meal with something sweet, we’ll have delicious cookies, tasty fudge, and our popular goat milk gelato for sale!

Still not enough entertainment for you? Browse handmade crafts from local vendors or take a walk around our pond with some of our friendly goats for company!

They are working with communities all over the world to end world hunger and poverty as well as care for the Earth. They train people in sustainable farming, they help farmers gain access to the market, and they empower women to develop leadership skills so they can have access to greater opportunities including education and entrepreneurship.

Marvelous Mushrooms The Focus at Annual Wellness Dinner

annual wellness dinner, Haw River Gourmet Mushrooms, 2 baby goats

Our Third Annual Wellness Dinner, Sunday January 20 (from 1:30 pm to 5 pm) focuses on the health benefit of mushrooms with our Special Guests, Ches & Laura Stewart from Haw River Mushrooms, LLC. They may even bring their adorable toddler twins!

The Stewarts grow edible and medicinal mushrooms at their small farm in Saxapahaw, North Carolina. They grow mushrooms both indoors (oyster mushrooms, lions mane, shiitake, cinnamon cap, reishi, king trumpet, etc.) and outdoors (King Stropharia, blewits, log grown lions mane, blue oyster, and shiitake). Laura holds a Wild Mushroom Food Safety Certification which allows her to sell nineteen varieties of seasonal mushrooms.

Their passion for mushrooms increased as they learned more about the culinary diversity of mushrooms (with some tasting like chicken, crab, lobster, and more) as well as the amazing health benefits of mushrooms (including supporting the immune system, boosting mental clarity, and being a healthy source of vitamins and nutritional protein). They will be giving an informative talk about mushrooms and our menu features their mushrooms!

Third Annual Wellness Dinner Menu:

  • Chef’s Choice Appetizers
  • Warm Chaga & Reishi Mushroom Tea
  • Hungarian Mushroom Soup
  • East Branch Ginger, Microgreen, & Citrus Salad
  • Mushroom Pastry
  • Peasant Duck Confit on Quinoa and Brown Rice Pilaf with Sauteed Mustard Greens & Mushrooms
